What are the Most Important Treasures?

What are the most cherished items you inherit from your parents or your grandparents? Of course no one is turning down a cash gift, but that is quickly spent and contains no memories. Sometimes a piece of furniture or jewelry will survive the generations.

Most of the time it will be something that only has personal value. Artwork, the button box, photographs, the cookbook, a specific tool from the garage. Siblings will come just short of violence to be the recipient of these items.

It is possible to share! With today's technology everyone can have the paintings, photographs and cookbook. (I guess the button box would have to be divided.) The photo below came from my neighbor. One of the siblings spent a year and a half collecting and scanning all of the family recipes after their 90+ old mother passed away. The recipes are typed, hand written and have pasta sauce stains. Just like the originals.

Instead of fighting, the siblings were overwhelmed with the effort taken to be given such a personal and meaningful gift. Look around your house and see if you can do the same for your loved ones. Your generosity will be long remembered.
